Feeding the world…well, at least Sydney

It’s that time again, harvest time i the pumpkin patch. This year, as well as the usual butternut, I put in another variety that’s known for their huge pumpkins. I think the two varieties mixed and form a few massive speciems that were also pretty tasty.

That amount of pumpkin had to go somewhere and it doesn’t keep well once it’s been cut. So once I spent an evening cutting this monster into wedges that didn’t fit into cling wrap. I made up four bags of pieces not including three trays of pieces I cooked myself. Two of these bags I took to work the next day. So one pumpkin is now filling the bellies of people in eight suburbs: Rents Park, Penrith, Canley Vale, Hammondville, Fairfield, Punchbowl, Marrickville and somewhere in Sutherland.
