Today I picked up two posters from the framers. Both are from the early to late 60s or early 70s and are favourites of ours for one reason or another. The one above is for a Charlie Chaplin’s Limelight, a talkie that had originally come out in the early 50s but won an academy award later when he wrote a completely new musical score.
The other was an original cinema poster for The Lion in Winter with Peter O’Toole and Katharine Hepburn. A wonderful conspiracy theory, family drama film that has you wondering how they could ever run a country when their family was such a mess.
I think it’s ironic that the Charlie Chaplin film poster is actually the the younger of the two though that movie came out earlier (1952). You can tell because he didn’t win the Academy Award until 1972.
Both poster are now side by side on our dining room wall and may they last another 40 years.
